Congratulations us!

Not for nothing I earned an undergrad degree in journalism. I figured I’d work for The Associated Press. Or, say, a mid-sized print media outlet. Life happened. The gig at the AP didn’t. Not yet.

But this great blog did. It’s a collaborative effort between my spouse and me, launched back in the winter of 2010 to document what we figured was going to be our family’s quick and painless expansion. (The same friends and loved ones who might never get to read my award-winning piece for The Wall Street Journal could sure as hell delight in the tale of our family’s trip to Disney World!) Then infertility hijacked our baby blog and we spent the next two years sharing with the blogosphere what we learned from our less-than-med-school-but-still-not-free education in reproductive endocrinology.

We connected with some of the most tremendous people you may not know (but really, really should). Some of them we met through our participation in SITS: an online community of over 10,000 uber-rad, women bloggers: real writers, writing about real things like, say, aspiring to parenthood, maintaining their sanity and triumphing over nature. And I was at once really grateful for the ticktock of a biological clock, shitty sperm and nerdy hobbies that brought us to this place and these ridiculously righteous, seemingly ordinary people and their extraordinary stories!

Today, I’m honored to have been selected as the first featured SITStah-blogger of the new year: a year which might maybe be pretty wonderful, come to think of it.

PS) If you’re new here, hit up About and Occasionally Asked Questions to learn just about, but not quite, everything you never wanted to know about our (extra)ordinary (mis)adventures in prospective parenthood!

What a learning journey you have been on. It always seems like things never go they way you start them to, but end up being just what you need.

    Happy New Year!

And nice that you found blogging to be a fulfilling, serendipitous road in the meantime. I often find the by-roads and the Plan B’s to be the best. Happy SITS day. Happy 2012.
